Thousands report Microsoft Outlook outages; Microsoft announces most services are recovering after reverting impacted update.
Several Microsoft 365 users reported issues accessing the platform on Sunday, March 2, 2025, with many specifically unable to reach their Outlook emails.
Microsoft acknowledged the problem, confirming that it was investigating the outage, which was also affecting other Microsoft 365 services. The company later announced it had rolled back a service update believed to be causing the issue and noted that most services were recovering.
“We’re investigating an issue where users may be unable to access Outlook features and services. More details can be found under MO1020913 in the admin center,” Microsoft shared in a post on X. “We’re reviewing telemetry and customer logs to assess the impact and have confirmed that various Microsoft 365 services are affected,” the company added.
Microsoft later identified a “potential cause” for the outage and said, “We’ve identified a potential cause of the issue and have reverted the suspected code to mitigate the impact. We’re closely monitoring telemetry to ensure recovery.”
The company then reported that most services were recovering. “Our telemetry indicates that the majority of impacted services are recovering following our change. We will continue monitoring until all services are fully restored. For more detailed information, refer to MO1020913 or visit https://portal.office.com/ServiceStatus,” Microsoft stated.
