LeBron James makes history as the first NBA player to reach 50,000 career points.

LeBron James achieved another historic milestone in his legendary NBA career on Tuesday, becoming the first player ever to score a total of 50,000 points. This remarkable feat came after he nailed a three-pointer in the first quarter of the Los Angeles Lakers’ home game against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Entering the game with 49,999 combined points from both regular season and playoff games, James hit the deep shot to reach the 50,000-point mark, adding another monumental achievement to his already storied career. The 40-year-old forward had already etched his name in the record books when he broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's all-time regular season scoring record in February 2023, a milestone that had stood for 39 years.

In addition to his regular season success, James also holds the all-time playoff scoring record, surpassing Michael Jordan’s previous mark in May 2017. Despite being in his 22nd season, James shows no signs of slowing down. He was named the Western Conference Player of the Month for February, marking his 41st monthly award, the most in NBA history. This achievement also makes him the oldest player to win the honor, surpassing the previous record set by Karl Malone, who was 37 when he won the award in November 2000.

James’ performance has continued to shine, and his Lakers team has been in top form recently. Following a stunning trade for Luka Dončić from the Dallas Mavericks, in exchange for Anthony Davis, the Lakers have surged, winning six straight games heading into Tuesday’s contest. As a result, they have climbed to second place in the Western Conference standings.

With four NBA championships already to his name, James remains a dominant force in the league, and his ability to consistently break records only adds to the enduring legacy of "King James."
